Pont du Gard
A mythical and emblematic monument of the Gard, the Pont du Gard is, in the world, the only three-storey ancient bridge still standing, which allowed it to be classified in 1985 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Built during the first century AD, this building is an ancient Roman aqueduct. 49 meters high and 275 meters long, it was used to bring water from a spring located near Uzès (the Fontaine d'Eure) to the Roman town of "Nemausus" (Nîmes).
